The Preprimary classroom is for children 3-6 years old, and are fully potty trained Our philosophy is to support the children developmentally. At this age children need consistency, knowing daily routines, and feeling comfortable in communicating with their teacher. All our programs are Monday through Friday.
Children enter the classroom and immediately choose their activities, including when to eat snacks. After the work period, children gather for group time to share in morning greeting, music, stories and group lessons. Outside activities to foster large motor development and social play follow.
Children, who have completed preschool and are between the ages of 5 and 6 by fall, are eligible for Kindergarten. During this year children meet and sometimes exceed state standards as they focus in the core subjects of spelling, reading, writing, math and science. Kindergarten children become leaders in the classroom as they are the role models for the younger children. Kindergarten children should be enrolled in our Traditional program.
